Gerald Marlow was born in Farnham and attended St Peter’s School
Wrecclesham and Weydon Secondary School before working for a local electrical company. Gerald was first introduced to the organ by Thomas Stroud at St Peter’s Church Wrecclesham. He later had organ lessons with Garrett O’Brien and John Foss at St Thomas on the Bourne. He has been Organist and Choirmaster at a number of local churches within a 15mile radius of Farnham. Gerald regards himself as an amateur musician. For nearly 5 years Gerald was Organist and Choirmaster at St Andrew’s Farnham. In 1992 he was appointed Acting Organist and Choirmaster at St Lawrence Alton for 12 months followed by a short break before being invited to become Choirmaster, a post he held for 10 years. In 2004 Gerald was appointed Organist and Choirmaster at St Mary’s Liss which he held for 9 years.

Currently Gerald regularly plays the organ at All Saint’s Steep near Petersfield and Alton Methodist Church. In 1973 Gerald married Jennie and moved to Alton. They have two sons and 3 grandchildren.

Recently retired, Gerald has tried to improve his organ playing technique by having lesson with Dr David Price at Portsmouth Cathedral.

In his spare time Gerald  is a member of Alton U3A, Chawton Park Indoor Bowls Club and Treasurer of Alton Probus
